The Presidio County Sheriff's Department is now accepting applications for Jail Administrator. The Jail Administrator is responsible to plan, organize and implement operations and programs in the Corrections Division.

The Jail Administrator shall also:
-Assign and direct subordinates, ensuring that all policy rules, regulations, orders, procedures and directives are enforced and implemented.
-Make independent decisions or recommendations in the hiring, promotion, transfer, discipline, or discharge of department employees.
-Relieve from duty any personnel considered incapable of performing required duties.
-Prepare the division budget, monitor the budget, and prepare reports and analysis as required.
-Be responsible for the fiscal status of division operations, including managing accounts receivable, managing accounts payable.
-Research, plan, organize and conduct division training as required.
-Manage the required programs related to the housing, booking, and releasing of inmates.
-Communicate with a variety of agencies and administrators regarding the Corrections Division operations.
-Manage all aspects of contracted services in the division.
-Insure that all inmate complaints are investigated.

The administrator must be knowledgeable of computer hardware, software and accessories. The administrator must have a knowledge of current State Statutes regarding the housing of prisoners.

Required qualifications: High School Degree. State Certification as a Corrections Officer. 5+ years work experience as a Corrections Officer or related field. Good mathematical skills.

The Sheriff's Office has recently acquired an account with Nixle, a text message and email based emergency notification system. Anybody can sign up for this service by sending a text message with their zip code within the county to 888777 or registering online at Messages will be sent from the Sheriff's Office as deemed necessary.
